The product configurator to support sales teams and indirect commercial network

CONTEXT

RuleDesigner Configurator has been applied as a product configurator in the design sector, especially in the design of stairs.

In this application field the customer was able to provide via web a new value added service, for its direct sales team and indirect commercial network and large-scale distributors, dedicated to the sales & technical stairs configuration.

The RuleDesigner configurator has made it possible to simplify the process of defining the customized staircase (both of the Make to Stock and Make to Order type) thanks to the rule-based logic that underlies it which has made it possible to create a guided mode through fields of selection and graphic interaction on a 3D model.

The processing of the data and information entered takes place in real time, generating detailed commercial documentation, complete with quotation and bill of materials.

The RuleDesigner configurator has simplified the process of defining a customized product (both of the Make to Stock and Make to Order type), making even operators who do not have specific know-how on the product or brand object of the configuration autonomous.

This has made it possible to overcome a barrier to entry into large-scale distribution by exponentially increasing the opportunities for proposing one’s own solutions on the market. A single configurator that incorporates skin customization options to be compliant with the brand identity of each distribution chain as well as the ability to define product customization options exclusively for each of them.

Autonomy of the sales network and automatic generation of documentation have made it possible to optimize sales cycles without burdening the company’s internal resources.

RuleDesigner Configurator interfaces with company applications, sometimes driving them, to process data and generate data and documents automatically. With RuleDesigner the product configuration procedures can be contextualized in business processes thanks to an enterprise collaborative portal in charge of workflow management.

Configuration routing for new or advanced users

The first step allows you to choose between configuration paths designed for inexperienced or advanced users.

Definition of the environment in which the staircase to configure will be placed

Through guided and visual configuration, the architectural hole in which the staircase will be positioned, the height difference that the staircase will have to fill and the thickness of the floor are defined.

Definition of the plant, material and finishes

Selection of the plan of the stairs and the material and related finishes of the steps and balustrade

2D plan view and 3D configured object

Visualization of the 2D floor plan of the starting floor and the arrival floor and of the 3D with all the details of treads, risers, widths and stairs. Possibility of evaluating all possible alternative solutions also taking into account further details and furnishing objects (such as walls, windows, doors or furniture) present in the setting that allow to define the context of product positioning with greater precision.

Finalization and generation of the offer document

Once the right solution has been identified, it is possible to obtain a descriptive commercial card in real time with the details of your configuration with the possibility of continuing towards the purchase order.
